MODULE TOPICTurn maintenance demand into controlled work

S2C 202 · PREVENT

How does preventive maintenance stay on cycle?

Preventive maintenance starts from an installed asset, service commitment, or internal reliability objective—not from a customer complaint. Its purpose is to create due work early enough to plan it safely and economically.

TRIGGER

Choose the right basis

Use time, meter/counter, condition, inspection result, or strategy package according to the failure pattern and service promise.

Plan capacity →
PREPARE

Release executable work

Attach task steps, skills, permits, parts, access windows, and required capacity before releasing the call to the team.

Plan the work →
CONTROL

Measure compliance and risk

Track due, overdue, deferred, completed, and missed work alongside production or customer-service impact.

Improve the cycle →
Customer contract PM

The maintenance call is an obligation to the customer. Completion may consume contract entitlement or create a billable service event.

Internal PM

The maintenance call protects company assets. The financial result is normally cost, asset availability, and settlement—not customer revenue.

Condition-led PM

An inspection or monitored condition changes the timing of work; the decision and evidence must remain traceable.

Example

A quarterly inspection finds a degrading motor vibration reading. The next service is advanced, a specialist and bearing kit are reserved, and the confirmation resets the relevant maintenance evidence.

Internal servicing uses the same planning discipline but has a different receiver, accounting path, and success measure.
