MTO 202 · ASSIGN

How is customer-specific output kept available to the right order?

MTO does not only create quantity. It preserves the relationship between a customer requirement, its supply, output, stock segment, availability, and delivery so that one order cannot silently consume another customer’s supply.

READ THE CAPABILITY

Keep the customer reference explainable

Individual stock, sales-order assignment, and availability treatment decide whether output can satisfy a particular order. Common stock may physically exist while the intended customer requirement remains uncovered; customer-specific stock may not be available for another order.

CAPABILITY MODEL

Understand the input, decision, and result

Quantity alone is not enough; customer ownership and the response to change must remain visible.

REQUIREMENT

Create the customer segment

The sales order and strategy establish the individual demand that owns the future supply.

SUPPLY

Retain the reference

Planning, production, or procurement carries the requirement relationship through the supply chain.

OUTPUT

Assign the result

Confirmation and receipt establish quantity, stock segment, status, and customer ownership.

OPERATIONAL FLOW

How the capability performs

Follow the customer-specific requirement through its supply and commercial evidence.

01CREATE

Record the requirement

Capture sales order, item, material, configuration, quantity, date, and individual requirement.

02PEG

Connect supply to demand

Keep planned, production, or purchased supply linked to the customer requirement where the design requires it.

03RECEIVE

Place output correctly

Post the result into the intended customer-specific or common stock model with status evidence.

04FULFIL

Deliver the right output

Availability and delivery consume eligible stock without silently crossing customer ownership.

DESIGN & CONTROL

What shapes the result

Assignment model

Requirements class, special-stock indicator, account assignment, and production or procurement reference protect ownership.

Availability scope

Plant, storage location, stock type, commitments, and ATP scope determine which quantity the order can use.

Change and exception control

Partial output, rework, cancellation, and reassignment require an approved decision and traceable correction.

DIAGNOSTIC EVIDENCE

What proves the result?

Read the customer requirement, successor supply, and physical or commercial outcome together.

REQUIREMENT

Sales order, item, schedule line, configuration, and individual requirement.

SUPPLY

Planned order, production or purchase document, pegging, and requirement segment.

STOCK AND DELIVERY

Stock segment, stock type, available quantity, delivery reference, and assignment history.

MTO SCENARIO

Two configured units are complete, but only one belongs to Customer A.

The assigned unit remains protected for Customer A while the other is common stock. A delivery for Customer B cannot consume the assigned unit merely because physical quantity exists.

  • Ownership is visible
  • Supply retains the reference
  • Stock status is understood
  • Delivery uses eligible output
